Lidice

The Lidice National Memorial recalls the sad events of World War II. On 10.6.1942, the Nazis wiped out the entire village. 173 men above the age of 15 were shot, the women and children were sent to concentration camps, the houses were demolished, and the name of the village was removed from the map. After the war, the new village of Lidice arose near the sad site.

Sculpture by an academic sculptor Marie Uchytilová stands in the place where the village Lidice was burned down by the Fascist‘s in 1942. Eighty-two bronze statues depict the real to children of Lidice, who were taken to the Chełmno Concentration Camp and who were murdered with exhaust gas from trucks.
